Whole Person Care Clinic

Street Medicine

Our Street Medicine program is rooted in the belief that healthcare is a basic human right. We work tirelessly to meet people where they are, assess their needs holistically, and provide care that is dignified, respectful, and tailored to each individual.

What is Street Medicine?

Street Medicine is a compassionate, person-centered approach that brings essential healthcare services to individuals experiencing homelessness. By physically going out into the community, our dedicated teams—comprised of healthcare professionals and social workers—connect with those living unsheltered. We assess their immediate and long-term health needs, provide care on-site, and help link them to further medical and social services.

Why is Street Medicine Important?

Many people experiencing homelessness face significant barriers to accessing healthcare, such as lack of transportation, distrust of medical institutions, or difficulty navigating complex healthcare systems. Street Medicine breaks down these barriers by bringing healthcare to them. This mobile approach allows us to:

  • Address urgent medical needs – We offer wound care, chronic disease management, mental health support, vaccinations, and more, directly in the field.

  • Build trust – By establishing relationships with individuals over time, our teams can help them feel comfortable enough to seek ongoing care.

  • Prevent hospitalizations – By addressing health concerns early, we can reduce costly and avoidable emergency room visits.

  • Connect to supportive services – We don’t just provide medical care; we also connect individuals with housing, food, mental health support, and social services, helping them take steps toward stability.

At Whole Person Care Clinic, we believe that healthcare should be accessible to everyone, especially those experiencing homelessness who often struggle to receive the care they need. Our Street Medicine program provides direct, on-the-ground healthcare services by meeting people where they are—on the streets, in shelters, and in other non-traditional settings—ensuring that no one is left behind.

Through Street Medicine, we’re helping the most vulnerable members of our community access life-saving services and empowering them to improve their quality of life. Together, we can build a healthier, more compassionate future.
